Who is William Lee Rand: The Founder of Holy Fire® Reiki
William Lee Rand is a globally recognized Reiki Master and the founder of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). With over four decades of experience, he is widely credited with modernizing and professionalizing Reiki practice in the West.
He is most notably the developer of Holy Fire® Reiki, a refined form of Reiki energy that he introduced in 2014, which is said to be more powerful and transformative than traditional methods.
William Rand is also the creator of Karuna Reiki® and the author of several definitive texts, including Reiki, The Healing Touch. His work focuses on making Reiki accessible, evidenced-based, and spiritually profound for practitioners worldwide.
How William Rand Discovered Holy Fire Reiki:
William Lee Rand’s discovery of Holy Fire® Reiki was not a planned invention, but rather a sudden spiritual experience that occurred in January 2014.
The Origin Story
The discovery took place during a series of spiritual sessions Rand was having with a long-time advisor and channeler. On January 23, 2014, just one day before he was scheduled to teach an Advanced Reiki Training (ART) and Master class, the new energy revealed itself.
The Transmission
Rand was shown a new symbol and given instructions on how to pass the energy to others. He was told that this energy was a more refined, higher-frequency vibration of Reiki that had been active in the world in ancient times but was now being reintroduced.
The Transition
To "make room" for this new energy, Rand was guided to release the Tibetan symbols and the "Violet Breath" technique that he had previously taught as part of the Usui/Tibetan system for 25 years.
The Name
Though Rand initially found the name "Holy Fire" to be potentially too religious, he was guided that the word "Holy" was meant in its root sense: to be whole or complete. The name stuck after the energy reportedly identified itself as such.
Evolution of the System
The system has continued to evolve since its initial discovery through what Rand describes as ongoing spiritual upgrades:
• 2014: Initial introduction of Holy Fire®.
• 2015: Upgrade to Holy Fire® II, which introduced "Placements" (a non-physical way of passing the energy that replaced traditional hands-on attunements).
• 2018: Upgrade to Holy Fire® III, which occurred during a session at Mount Kurama in Japan, the same mountain where the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, originally had his enlightenment experience.
