Why I Believe Reiki Is So Important for Teens
I believe every teenager deserves a safe, supportive space where they can slow down, breathe deeply, release stress, and reconnect with who they are beyond their grades, athletic performance, or social expectations.
Reiki creates that opportunity. Through gentle energy healing, relaxation, and grounding practices, my goal is to help teens calm an overactive nervous system, regulate difficult emotions, strengthen self-confidence, and develop healthy self-care habits that support them long after each session ends.

Why Student Athletes Love Reiki
Success in sports isn’t determined by physical ability alone. Confidence, focus, emotional resilience, and the ability to recover from setbacks all play an important role in athletic performance.
Many student athletes place enormous pressure on themselves to perform well—not only for their team, but also for their coaches, parents, and future college opportunities. Over time, that pressure can create mental fatigue, self-doubt, and performance anxiety that affect both sports and everyday life.
Reiki provides student athletes with an opportunity to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with themselves beyond the scoreboard.
Many athletes report feeling:
More relaxed before competition
Better able to focus during practices and games
Less overwhelmed by pressure
More confident in their abilities
Better rested after intense training
Emotionally balanced following wins and losses
Whether preparing for competition, recovering from an injury, or simply learning to manage stress more effectively, Reiki supports the whole person—not just the athlete.
What to Expect During Your Teen Reiki Session
Every session begins with a conversation.
We’ll spend a few minutes talking about what’s been happening in your teen’s life, whether that’s school, athletics, friendships, anxiety, family stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed. Together we’ll identify an intention for the session based on their current needs.
Your teen will then relax comfortably on a heated Reiki table, fully clothed and covered with a soft blanket while calming music plays in the background.
Using gentle Reiki techniques, I’ll work to help calm the nervous system, encourage relaxation, and restore energetic balance. Many teens describe feeling deeply relaxed, peaceful, warm, or simply enjoying a quiet opportunity to unplug from life’s constant demands.
At the conclusion of the session, we’ll spend time discussing their experience and review simple grounding or mindfulness practices that can support continued growth between appointments.
Parents are welcome to join us afterward for a brief discussion and any questions they may have.
Supporting Growth Between Sessions
Healing doesn’t end when the Reiki session is over.
One of my goals is to help teens develop practical tools they can use independently as they continue navigating everyday challenges.
Depending on your teen’s needs, we may explore simple practices such as:
Grounding techniques
Mindful breathing exercises
Positive self-talk
Gratitude practices
Journaling
Visualization
Healthy emotional boundaries
Spending time outdoors
Creating healthy routines
Learning how to recognize when their mind and body need rest
These small daily habits help reinforce the calm, confidence, and emotional balance developed during Reiki sessions, allowing teens to carry these skills into school, sports, relationships, and everyday life.
Teen Reiki FAQs
Is Reiki safe for teenagers?
Yes. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive relaxation practice that is safe for teens of all ages. Sessions are always tailored to your teen’s comfort level and emotional needs.
Does my teen have to believe in Reiki for it to work?
No. Reiki doesn’t require any particular belief system. Most teens simply enjoy the opportunity to relax, slow down, and experience a peaceful environment.
Will my teen have to talk during the session?
Not at all. Some teens enjoy talking, while others prefer quiet relaxation. Every session is personalized to meet your teen where they are emotionally.
Can parents stay during the session?
Parents are welcome to accompany younger teens during the consultation and are invited back afterward to discuss the session if appropriate. For older teens, many parents choose to allow them a private space while remaining nearby.
What should my teen wear?
Comfortable clothing is best. Reiki is performed with your teen fully clothed while they relax under a cozy blanket.
Can Reiki help with sports performance anxiety?
Many student athletes find Reiki helpful for calming pre-game nerves, improving focus, managing stress, and recovering emotionally after competition.
How many sessions are recommended?
Every teen is different. Some benefit from an occasional session during stressful periods, while others appreciate regular monthly visits for continued emotional support and grounding.
Is Reiki a replacement for counseling or medical care?
No. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice that works alongside counseling, medical care, and other healthcare services. It is not intended to diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions.
What if my teen feels nervous about coming?
That’s completely normal. My approach is warm, conversational, and supportive. We take our time, answer questions, and ensure your teen feels comfortable before beginning.
How will my teen feel afterward?
Many teens leave feeling calmer, lighter, more relaxed, and emotionally refreshed. Some notice improved sleep, greater mental clarity, or simply feel more grounded as they return to school, sports, and everyday activities.
